Pieter Parlevliet en Jolanda Vlaskamp brachten maandag een bezoek aan LOFAR, een radiotelescoop die is samengesteld uit duizenden radioantennes. De telescoop werd in 2010 in gebruik genomen door ASTRON in Dwingeloo (Noord-Nederland).
Officieel doet het netwerk astronomisch onderzoek, maar Parlevliet en Vlaskamp zijn documentatie tegengekomen uit 2003 waarin staat dat LOFAR in de toekomst zal worden gebruikt voor experimenten met HAARP (High-frequency Active Auroral Research Program). Er wordt beweerd dat HAARP gebruikt wordt voor weermanipulatie.
Nieuwsgierigheid
Dit wekt heel veel nieuwsgierigheid op, aldus Vlaskamp. Parlevliet voegt toe: “Misschien wel het meest aparte waar ik ooit ben geweest. Het is nogal wat. Heel bijzonder.”
Een medewerker van ASTRON zei tegen Parlevliet en Vlaskamp dat het netwerk niet gebruikt wordt voor weersbeïnvloeding.
Supercomputer
Het centrum van het netwerk ligt in Noord-Nederland en de verzamelde data worden naar een supercomputer van de Rijksuniversiteit Groningen gestuurd. Parlevliet merkt op dat het koningshuis erg geïnteresseerd is in dit project, dat wordt gesubsidieerd door de overheid.
In 2016 beweerde de Indiase overheid dat HAARP mogelijk global warming veroorzaakt, met als gevolg dat oogsten teruglopen. Twee jaar daarvoor, in 2014, zei Nick Begich junior, de zoon van voormalig lid van het Amerikaanse Huis van Afgevaardigden Nick Begich, dat HAARP natuurrampen zoals aardbevingen kan veroorzaken.

‘US using radio waves to trigger natural disasters’

A so-called “research” program developed based on the technology of
electromagnetic waves is believed to have been used to set off natural
disasters, say a number of conspiracy theorists.
The High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program (HAARP) run by the US
may have been used to spark a number of earthquakes over the past few years,
claim a number of US officials and conspiracy theorists as quoted in an article
by columnist Nasser Namvar published on Press TV website.
“Nick Begich Jr., the son of former US lawmaker Nick Begich, and author
of Angels Don't Play This HAARP, has claimed that HAARP could trigger
earthquakes,” the article reads.
The piece also highlights that former Minnesota Governor and “noted
conspiracy theorist” Jesse Ventura has raised the possibility of the US
government “using HAARP to manipulate the weather or to bombard people with
mind-controlling radio waves.”
"Others are engaging even in an eco-type terrorism whereby they can
alter the climate, set off earthquakes, volcanoes remotely through the use of
electromagnetic waves," former US Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen
was quoted in the article as saying in a 1997 conference on terrorism.
HAARP operates a major sub-arctic facility, named the HAARP Research
Station, near Gakona, Alaska.
HAARP comprises an array of 180 antennas approximately 72 feet (22
meters) tall linked together to function as one giant antenna to focus the
energy coming out of the antenna field and inject that energy into the
ionosphere (a region of the upper atmosphere).
The energy emitted from HAARP is 72,000 times more intense than that of
waves from a conventional radio station, claim experts.
HAARP has been at the center of numerous conspiracy theories for years.
