Voor veel mensen klinkt
het als sciencefiction. Weermanipulatie is echter een oude droom van de
mensheid die zeker duizenden jaren oud is. Of het nu is om catastrofale stormen
af te wenden of om de regen tevoorschijn te toveren die zo belangrijk is voor
de landbouw. Wetenschappelijke en technische patenten die te maken hebben met
manipulatie van het weer zijn sinds 1891 gedocumenteerd. Vindingrijke
internetgebruikers hebben ze verzameld – wij bieden ze aan voor je
eigen onderzoek, schrijft Report24.
Hieronder vind je
een lijst van octrooien uit verschillende octrooidatabases die te maken hebben
met de productie van kunstmatige wolken of de aanpassing van het weer. Het
bestaan van een octrooi betekent niet automatisch dat het beschreven en
gewenste effect ook echt werkt. Normaal gesproken wordt een octrooi echter
aangevraagd omdat men ervan uitgaat dat het zal werken en dat de octrooihouder
er goed geld mee kan verdienen – zeker gezien de Amerikaanse mentaliteit.

De octrooispecificatie
van Frederick William MacDougall uit San Diego bevat talloze
technische tekeningen. Het gaat over het genereren van regenwolken op lage
hoogtes op basis van waterbronnen op aarde, of dat nu oceanen, meren of
rivieren zijn.
De systemen of
methoden kunnen worden beschreven als middelen voor geoengineering, legt de
octrooihouder uit. Het doel is om regen op te wekken om droogte en bosbranden
tegen te gaan en ook om de lucht te zuiveren. Er wordt een verkoelend effect
beloofd met betrekking tot de “door de mens veroorzaakte opwarming van de
aarde.” De beschreven methodologie is technisch zeer uitgebreid en complex. In
principe wordt water aan het aardoppervlak onttrokken en in de atmosfeer
geblazen.

Het patent
staat ook bekend als het HAARP/Eastlund patent, het laatste
omdat de naam van de indienende uitvinder Bernard J. Eastlund is.
Een methode en
apparaat om ten minste één geselecteerd gebied normaal gesproken boven het
aardoppervlak te veranderen. Het gebied wordt geëxciteerd door
elektronencyclotronresonantie om de dichtheid van geladen deeltjes te verhogen.
In één uitvoeringsvorm wordt circulair gepolariseerde elektromagnetische
straling naar boven uitgezonden in een richting die vrijwel parallel loopt aan
en langs een veldlijn die door het te veranderen plasmagebied loopt. De
straling wordt uitgezonden met een frequentie die de
elektronencyclotronresonantie opwekt om de geladen deeltjes te verhitten en te
versnellen. Deze energietoename kan leiden tot de ionisatie van neutrale
deeltjes, die vervolgens worden geabsorbeerd als onderdeel van het gebied,
waardoor de geladen deeltjesdichtheid van het gebied toeneemt.
Kunstmatige regen door hoogenergetische laser, 2020
De uitvinding voorziet in een systeem en methode voor het genereren van kunstmatige regen met behulp van een afstandsbedieningssysteem voor droneluchtvaartuigen of een onbemand luchtvaartuig, waarbij gebruik wordt gemaakt van het principe van endotherme reactie. De mega-UAV uitgerust met een Pentax digitale camera wordt gebruikt om op aanvraag beelden met hoge resolutie vast te leggen. De Mega-UAV wordt bestuurd door een automatische piloot in combinatie met voorgeprogrammeerde grondbesturingssoftware of kan handmatig worden gelanceerd met een eenvoudige joystick in het radiofrequentiebereik. Om het ionisatieproces op gang te brengen, is de UAV uitgerust met een plasmafrequentiesysteem en wordt hij in het binnenste van een wolkenmassa gestuurd. Het UAV-systeem dringt diep door in de wolkenmassa en zendt een enkele krachtige laserpuls uit in de atmosfeer. UAV-systemen worden gebruikt om versnelling en turbulentie op te wekken door middel van windkracht, waardoor kleine waterdeeltjes botsen en grotere regendruppels worden. Zulke grotere regendruppels dienen als kernen voor de vorming van meer regendruppels en er ontstaat regen. Door de UAV in de wolken te sturen, wordt het risico van een natuurlijke blikseminslag op de grond vermeden en wordt het risico op schade aan levende wezens geoptimaliseerd.
